Jesus loves you...but no one else will

Was in Bangalore for a few days this month. The area where I live has many Christians, but even so, I was a little startled, on my way home, to see a "Jesus loves you" sticker on a tree. There was just one, a small sticker, and beyond a little surprise, my fleeting thought was only, "Some keen Christian telling people God loves them. Chalo, thats nice".

Then, I saw a "Jesus loves you" sticker at the back of an auto. Nice. Was the auto driver the keen Christian who stuck the sticker on the tree? I wondered, in passing.

Then..."Jesus loves you" on one of the road signs. Hold on, not so nice. Quick frown.

A further bit down the road and one more sticker, this time on a private hospital board. Bigger frown.

By now, I was looking around for the stickers and I saw them all over...on private signs, public signs, in one or two cases obliterating a few details of the signs.

No problems with being enthusiastic about God's love, or talking about it.... But the initiators of the campaign seem to have been willing to violate others' property or public property in the process of spreading their message. Perhaps they honestly didn't think of it...but no one would love them for it. And it would surely affect the way they responded to the message, so the whole exercise was in vain.

Thoughts on two month gaps which turned into insight...

Another two month gap...sigh! How does S. do it? he actually blogs everyday!

Me, I live each day on the run: see five patients in the OPD, go quickly to the auditorium to take a short class for the nurses, run up to the ICU to see that urgent referral, rush back to keep the 11 am appointment with that rather fussy patient, drop in at casualty and check out what the urgent call was about, finish off whatevers left to do in the OPD, grab a quick thali and then go back for the afternoon appointments, trying to get off by five, but knowing the four-thirty patient is likely to come in only by 4.50...On the way back pick up some groceries, and vegetables, and the CD the elder girl wanted and the europe and "india-political" maps the younger one wanted...by evening, I'm just glad to drop all the multi-tasking...its as if the screen-saver is on, and things are just getting by on minimum power. Blogging is often too tiring to do.

But others hold down as tiring jobs, and for longer hours...I am all admiration at the way they manage. Perhaps its the cool attitude that makes the difference. I notice, on re-reading my post, all the verbs and adverbs I used, quite unconsciously, signifying being rushed, driven, on edge..."quick", "rush" , "grab"...and this despite being a mental health professional... Sigh.

Physician, heal thyself!! ;-)
