a month later

Well, its already been another few weeks; eventful ones. Went home to bangalore; met all my family, which is rare enough to cause comment. We had decided to come down together to be all present to celebrate our parents' fiftieth wedding anniversary. So us three siblings, our spouses and six children gathered together ...and a good time was had by all, except the patriarch and matriarch who, I suspect, found it all a little too loud and tiring, and probably heaved a small sigh of relief when we all reluctantly returned to our places of work! Fifty years...more on that later.

Then lived through three weeks of soaring temperatures, power cuts and gave-up-the-ghost invertors, before the rains reluctantly arrived in Delhi. They were equally reluctant to stay and have already more or less left; and the horror of six-hour power cuts may return. We bravely decided to manage this summer without any cooling devices whatsoever, except the good old "fan"...but may yet have to knuckle down and give in to keep the sweat from dripping off our brows.

Its not that we can't afford it. Its just, somehow, that when there are so many who manage without electricity, it seems too upper-class and richy-rich to fit ACs in the house.
